Nobody thought Ohio would be here. Heck they were the 9th seed in the MAC tournament and here they are ready to go to the sweet 16 possibly? Well I believe they have put on the slippers. They dominated a Georgetown team that I had going to the Elite 8. A Georgetown team that was in the Big East Championship. For much of that 97-83 win I thought Gtown would make some kind of a run, but they never did. They cut the lead to 7 but a three pointer on the next possession for the Bobcats put the lead to double digits.
The fact of the matter is this team is hot and they can score and head coach John Groce has them believing. They have been playing playoff basketball for a couple of weeks now and to get here it's very impressive. However, one more win and it becomes a Cinderella story. Sometimes it comes down to a team that wants it more and Ohio has nothing to lose and the pressure is on Tennessee. Tenn to me is the perfect team for Ohio in this match up. Sure they are loaded with more athleticism at every position, but this is a team that lacks discipline. Bruce Pearl is not on my bucket list for top coaches. I think he gets his team here every year by having players that are just gifted, but they never seem to go anywhere with that talent. They nearly lost to San Diego State in round 1 and I think it will be another close game here with Ohio in position to upset Tenn. The mid-majors have been the talk of the tournament and Ohio is about to be THE talk of the tournament if they can steal this game.
